Home / CRP USA celebrates the successful mission of the TuPOD small satellite

This unique CubeSat was produced using Windform XT 2.0 and was designed both as a CubeSat and as a dispensing system for two Tube Satellites. The TuPOD was deployed from the Japanese Experiment Module “Kibo” on Jan 16th, 2016. On January 19th 2017, approx 23:30 UTC, the Tu-Pod successfully dispensed the two Tube Satellites TANCREDO I (Produced by Brazilian Middle School Students) and OSNSAT (from Open Space Network, a Californian space company).
This mission marks a new milestone in the small satellite arena: it is the first time that two TubeSats are deployed in Space, using the specifically designed TuPOD that functions as both a satellite and release platform.
Stewart Davis, Director of Operations for CRP USA stated: “Unlike many technologies that were originally developed for Aerospace that are then adapted to Motorsports, Windform XT 2.0 is a purely Motorsports drive material”.
Windform was originally developed by CRP USA’s partner CRP Technology based in Modena Italy for use in Formula One Racing, first in the wind tunnel and then on the track.
Mr Davis continued: “Our team was very happy for Tetonsys, Gauss, Moorehead State, JAXA, the TANCREDO team, and OSNAT on their successful mission.
We look forward to continuing to produce components for our racing partners, with a material that is both proven on the track and carries an added bonus of Space Flight heritage”.
