CRP Meccanica and CRP Technology have achieved Cyber Essentials, the cyber security certification of the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), the UK's technical authority on cyber security. A milestone reached by both companies in parallel, confirming the strength of the Group's information systems.
The certification was issued through IASME, the NCSC's sole delivery partner for the scheme and the body that certifies UK defence suppliers, while also supporting the aviation sector, on behalf of the Civil Aviation Authority, with a dedicated cyber security audit scheme.
Cyber Essentials was built as a British standard, but the principle behind it - protecting data against verifiable criteria - knows no borders.
To obtain it, CRP documented the management of the five technical controls underpinning the resilience of its IT infrastructure: firewalls, system configuration, access control, malware protection, and software updates - submitted for independent review by the certification body. It is therefore not a stamp on a document, but a structured review that allows no convenient self-certification: the same rigour applied to every component before it leaves the companies, now applied to the systems that safeguard their data.
Achieving Cyber Essentials adds to a mosaic the CRP companies have built over time: EN 9100, ISO 9001, the NCAGE code, the Unique Entity ID and CRP UniqTrust, the traceability and anti-counterfeiting protocol developed in-house by CRP. Third-party certifications and in-house solutions alike, one common thread: materials, production processes and information systems all answer to the same standard of control, with the same exceptionally high levels of security.
Defense, aerospace and UxV are natural ground for a standard like this, but it really applies to any advanced sector where error is not an option. Tellingly, it was also designed as a tool for buyers, letting them verify a supplier's resilience instead of taking it on trust.
