With the Formula SAE Michigan event closed out with a 2nd place in the Design Event and a 3rd place in Acceleration - achieved despite a logistical setback that had left the team just one day to complete all static and dynamic events - MoRe Modena Racing returned to the track with renewed determination. From 15 to 19 July 2026, the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia team took part in Formula Student UK at Silverstone, England, closing the competition in second place overall.
A standout weekend for MoRe Modena Racing, which brought home a haul of awards and top results:
Organized by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), Formula Student UK is one of Europe's oldest and most established university engineering competitions: races have been held on the Silverstone circuit since 2007, drawing more than 100 university teams from around the world every year.
For MoRe Modena Racing, this was no ordinary stop: it was here that in 2019 the team won Italy's first-ever Formula Student UK title. In January 2026, the team reached first place in the Formula Student World Ranking List in the combustion and hybrid category, a leadership position built on three wins during the 2024 season and consolidated in 2025. After Michigan, the challenge moved to a track where MMR had already won, and the second place overall confirms, race after race, two years of hard work. Racing on the circuit that wrote the history of Formula 1 was just as prestigious a test for the MMR team as the one they had just faced in Michigan - only this time as the world's number one.
On the M26-LH single-seater, a new component 3D printed by CRP Technology joins the front Ergal 7075 hubs CNC-machined from solid billet by CRP Meccanica: the inverter, produced through professional SLS 3D printing in Windform XT 2.0 carbon-fiber-filled composite, chosen for the structural stiffness and dimensional stability required by a component critical to the vehicle's power electronics.
In the same material, CRP Technology also produced the left and right bulkheads, used by MoRe Modena Racing during on-track testing ahead of the UK event.
Additive manufacturing and precision CNC machining once again worked side by side, putting the tools of a true competition-level team in the hands of young engineers from Modena and Reggio Emilia.
“The Windform XT 2.0 inverter is another step in the journey we have been building with MoRe Modena Racing since 2024: putting CRP's additive technology to work on genuinely critical components, not just demonstrative ones,” says Franco Cevolini, CEO and CTO of CRP Group. “Structural stiffness and dimensional stability are requirements we normally associate with aerospace: seeing them demanded on a university racing car too confirms just how far the technical level of these projects has risen.”

The UK trip was not just another round on the calendar - it also marked the starting point of a new chapter for MoRe Modena Racing. For the rest of 2026 and throughout 2027, most of the team will focus on designing the new engine for the hybrid car, aiming to unveil major developments ahead of the 2028 season. At the same time, another part of the squad will remain committed in 2027 to racing with the current electric car, ensuring continuity on track while the project for the future takes shape in the garage.
