CRP Technology's groundbreaking achievements recognized at TCT Awards 2024 for 3D-printed cat’s eye props in 'Ferrari' and the excellence of Windform TPU. UVFR team’s liquid catch cans 3D-printed by CRP USA also acknowledged.

CRP Technology Shortlisted in two categories for TCT Awards 2024

CRP Technology is proud to announce its shortlisting for the prestigious TCT Awards 2024 in two distinguished categories. The company's innovative contributions have garnered recognition in the TCT Creative Application Award for the production of the cat’s eye props featured in the Michael Mann movie 'Ferrari,' 3D-printed from CRP’s thermoplastic polyurethane Windform TPU; the same material has been nominated in the TCT Materials Awards.

“These nominations underscore CRP Technology's commitment to innovation and excellence in the field of 3D printing,” comments Franco Cevolini, CEO, and Technical Director of CRP Technology. “We are honored to receive this recognition and look forward to continuing to enhance the convergence of efficiency, high technology, and advanced materials.”

The 3D-printed cat’s eye prop was pivotal to the plotline of the movie, and its nomination for the Creative Awards shines a light on how the additive industry can push the boundaries in using the technologies in the film, theatre, art, architecture, and jewelry industries. The cat's eye indeed embodies innovation at the cinema-technology intersection, but above all, it underscores the responsiveness of CRP Technology’s 3D printing department to the film crew's pressing timeline. The integration of advanced 3D printing technology by a longstanding 3D printing service bureau with high-performance materials addresses the urgent demands of film production, showcasing the adaptability of industrial 3D printing to meet specific requirements promptly and symbolizing the convergence of efficiency, high technology, and creativity in cinematic prop design.

The 3D printed cat's eye prop represents a crucial element that became pivotal to the plot line of the movie. Windform TPU boasts exceptional elasticity, flexibility, and impact resistance. Considering the context of 'Ferrari,' Windform TPU's elongation at break exceeding 400% enabled the production of a dynamic and lifelike cat's eye prop. Indeed, Windform TPU's high impact resistance ensured the longevity and reliability of the prop, vital for withstanding the rigors of film production environments. Moreover, Windform TPU's soft texture enhanced tactile appeal, contributing to the authenticity of the prop and immersing viewers in the world of Ferrari. These outstanding qualities of Windform TPU, coupled with its nomination as a finalist in the TCT Materials Awards, underscore its significance and excellence in the additive manufacturing industry.

Additionally, the CRP family of 3D printing service bureaus extends its excellence beyond creative applications: CRP Technology's partner company, CRP USA, has been acknowledged for their collaboration with the University of Victoria Formula Racing team. Specifically, the team's liquid catch cans for Formula SAE, manufactured using Windform SP, have secured a finalist position in the highly competitive TCT Automotive & Rail Application Award.

The 2024 TCT Awards finalists have been selected from a pool of over 100 candidates, representing a diverse range of products and applications across 11 categories. The winners will be announced at the prestigious awards ceremony on June 5th at the National Conference Centre in Birmingham, UK. Since 2017, the TCT Awards have celebrated the ongoing advancements in additive manufacturing, running alongside the annual TCT 3Sixty event.
